Super Green All Week!

In Savannah's class their behavior is sort of like a traffic light. Green=Good, Parking Lot=Sort of Good, Yellow=Not So Good, Red=Bad, White=big, big trouble. Many days, Savannah is on parking lot and it's always for talking. This week, however, she has been on Green all week and we rewarded her by a trip to the Fair on opening day yesterday.
I talked too much trash to Jeff and I had to ride it a second time!

Melissa and me on this EXTREME ride.

It was a perfect setting...not too many people, beautiful weather, and unlimited ride day. My friend Melissa and her son, Christian, met us down there and we rode some of the rides too. We realized that we aren't as young as we used to be when one of the rides made us all feel a little uneasy and sore. I rode that one twice and certainly felt it after the second time.

Vince rode the carousel, the farris wheel, and this doozy that broke down going up the hill, but he was perfectly content to people-watch from the stroller for the duration on the night.

Happy 40th!

Jeff turned 40 yesterday! We had a great day-Savannah made a card for him and gave it to him first thing yesterday morning, then Jeff's friends at work organized a surprise brunch, and he had no idea. I went over for that and it was good to see him at a loss for words! Savannah and Vince gave him a camp chair for him to take to Savannah's ball games and I gave him a new Daniel Moore print that is being released this summer. Savannah picked out an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen and that was a big hit last night after dinner.

G-Mama's Visit!

G-Mama has a very busy schedule over the next few months and was able to slip out of Charlotte for a short weekend visit to Macon. She arrived just before 3pm on Friday and we picked up Savannah and Luke (our neighbor who we carpool with) and headed to Elliott Farms for opening day of strawberry picking. Between the 3 adults and 2 children picking, we racked up a $50 strawberry bill! Vincey enjoyed eating some strawberries in the field but he didn't like the homemade ice cream (perhaps there was a mixup at the hospital?). We have made two strawberry trifles, daquiries, and will probably make some jam too.

Saturday morning we worked out in the yard and planted a little garden spot with green beans, zuchinni, and cucumbers. Savannah is really excited to see the crop take off, just as her tomatoes did last spring. Saturday afternoon we went to Savannah's ball game then had Ingleside Village Pizza for dinner while the kids went to Martha Bowman for their childcare that evening. I think everyone was worn out after the weekend's festivities since we all took at least 2 hour naps!

Easter Fun

Jeff returned home safely from the Final Four last Tuesday evening and we were all glad that he was home. The kids enjoyed the Easter Egg Hunt at church Saturday before Easter and looked adorable at church on Sunday. The Easter Bunny brought a little bit of candy, some DVDs for each of them, and a couple of potty training books for Vincey. Since he still isn't sure about the difference in "dirty" and "wet", it'll be a few months before we embark on that journey.

Jeff and I went to an auction in Mid-March for land in Monroe County, GA (just one county north of here) and got caught up in the bargains, so we purchased two building lots in Bolingbroke, GA. One of them is 1.4 acres and the other is right at 1 acre and they are next to each other. We are still debating on whether or not to build on one and sell the other or build right in the middle of them. Decisions Decisions!

I have just returned from a scrapbooking weekend and I am so close to having both of their scrapbooks up to date! Savannah loves to look at the books and my progress when I get home which makes me feel awesome and that my time spent is appreciated by the family.

While I was on my trip, Jeff sent me a text and told me that Savannah got her first hit in her softball game! I was excited for her-he said that it was coach pitch (they throw five pitches and if the batter misses, then the tee is set up for them) and she hit a grounder down the 3rd base line and ran hard for a single. She eventually scored a run and was pretty pumped about the game. Her coaches have been great and teach a lot about fundamentals of the game. We have been very fortunate to be on this team. I hope to post more pictures of her progress over the course of the season.

How We've Spent Our Spring Break

Jeff and I signed up to participate in the Cooper River Bridge Run (1oK) in Charleston, SC and it was this past weekend. Our goal was to complete the 6.1 mile course in under 100 minutes...and we finished in 96! We did a little bit of jogging, but mostly it was weaving in and out of folks along the route.

Savannah didn't have much going on at school on Friday, so we left Macon about 9pm on Thursday night. The kids fell asleep before we even got out of Macon, so it was a very peaceful 2.5 hr trip to Savannah, GA where we spent the night. Savannah fell right back to sleep once we got checked into the hotel, but Vincey was another story...it was as if he had gotten a 2 hr nap and was ready for the rest of the day, only it was 1am. We spent the morning in Savannah and the kids loved riding the water taxi and shopping on River Street. We drove on up to Charleston around lunch time and got checked into the hotel there and Jeff picked up our race packets, then we trekked up towards Litchfield Beach where we met G-Mama for the kid drop-off.

The kids loved being at the beach and playing in the indoor pool! Savannah met new friends and was dog-tired every night. She said she didn't want to take any naps because she was afraid she would miss something fun! One morning we went to the state park and we saw this alligator.

Jeff and some friends left out this morning for Indianapolis for the Final Four weekend and he was excited to hang out with the guys. The kids and I went to a neighborhood park earlier today and they had a blast playing there. We have an Easter Egg Hunt at church tomorrow and we are looking forward to the Easter Service on Sunday. Happy Easter to everyone!
