The Newest Addition to the Family!

Gary and Lin Leslie are pleased to announce the arrival of sweet baby boy, Wilson Howard Leslie. He was born yesterday, May 28th at 1:15pm and was 8 lbs 4 oz and 21 inches long. The family is doing well and will be heading home on Saturday afternoon.
They didn't find out what they were having, and Savannah guessed 5 months ago that it was a girl and named her "Susie-Anna". I told her last night that Aunt Lin had her baby and Savannah was sooo excited about it-then I told her it was a little boy. The smile quickly faded from her face and tears welled up in her eyes and she managed to say through the sobs "I wanted a little girl." We are all happy and blessed that Wilson is perfect and Lin is feeling good!

Last Day of School!

Savannah pictured this morning before school
Savannah's picture from her first day of school this year

It's hard to believe that it's Savannah's last day of school today. She has had a great week so far, and if she does "great" today, Jeff promised to take her out for pizza and ice cream tonight for dinner. She starts her day camp on Tuesday, and we are looking forward to a low-key weekend in Macon. It's been pretty rainy here the past few weeks and the yard is greening up well. Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!

Awards Day: Sonny Carter Pre-K

She was so excited to get her certificates-look at the smile on her face as she bee-lined it up to her teacher!

We are in our last week of school and Savannah's class had its Awards celebration today. Each child received a special class award and Savannah was awarded "Best Class Investigator". She also received a certificate for Perfect Attendance from the Bibb County School Superintendant! Miss Elton and Mrs. Cameron put together a wonderful movie of all the kids and the things that they participated in this school year. She has been a wonderful teacher for Savannah-we sure will miss her next year!

Our First Tomato!

Several weeks ago Jeff and Savannah planted some tomato bushes. They have finally produced some fruit! Savannah informed Jeff this morning that the reason a tomato is a fruit, and not a vegetable, is because it comes from a flower.
This past week was Savannah's last week of gymnastics at Sportz Quest. She did pretty well this year and enjoyed her teacher, Miss Jessie.

Mothers Day Weekend

We went to Atlanta on Saturday morning to return some tile and stopped at Dauset Trails on the way back for a picnic and a tour of the grounds. Vince rode in his stroller and enjoyed being outside, and Savannah loved seeing all of the animals and feeding the fish and turtles. Mothers Day was very nice! When we returned from Atlanta, there were 2 dozen roses waiting for me and we ordered dinner from Outback. On Sunday, Savannah gave me a card and a book that she and her classmates wrote about their moms. I also received some funds for my upcoming scrapbook trip in June!

Sonny Carter Elementary Field Day

Vince didn't make the blog headline, but here he is!

Savannah enjoyed her first Field Day today. She was so excited to wear her "official" field day shirt to school that was dressed and just about ready before coming into our room. Savannah and Jeff usually leave for school about 8:05 each morning. Today, she went outside at 7:45, and I thought she was just walking around the yard or playing. I saw that the door wasn't completely shut to the car, so I opened it up; she was sitting in the backseat, buckled up, and ready to go.

Leigh & Brian's Visit

Leigh and Brian Kugler came to visit this past weekend and we all had a wonderful time! The weather was perfect-a little overcast, but cleared up in the early afternoon. We played the Wii, went strawberry picking, ate at some local places (where Oprah ate when she visited Macon last year), and enjoyed being out in the backyard with the kids and dogs. The four of us did go out on Saturday night to hear an 80s band play and that was big fun!
