End of the Season
Savannah's last softball game was earlier this evening. She progressed well this season and we are hoping that she will play again this Fall. In the 6 and under softball league, the girls are thrown 5 pitches from their coach, and if they don't get a hit, they bring out the tee. The first half of the season Savannah always hit off the tee. The past few games she has gotten one coach hit each game and we have been so excited for her! Tonight, she got 3 coach hits! She also got knocked over and tagged out at third base, but she was hustling much better than in previous games. If we continue to work with her, she will get lots better. Way to go Minnows!

Super Green All Week!
In Savannah's class their behavior is sort of like a traffic light. Green=Good, Parking Lot=Sort of Good, Yellow=Not So Good, Red=Bad, White=big, big trouble. Many days, Savannah is on parking lot and it's always for talking. This week, however, she has been on Green all week and we rewarded her by a trip to the Fair on opening day yesterday.
Melissa and me on this EXTREME ride.
It was a perfect setting...not too many people, beautiful weather, and unlimited ride day. My friend Melissa and her son, Christian, met us down there and we rode some of the rides too. We realized that we aren't as young as we used to be when one of the rides made us all feel a little uneasy and sore. I rode that one twice and certainly felt it after the second time.
Vince rode the carousel, the farris wheel, and this doozy that broke down going up the hill, but he was perfectly content to people-watch from the stroller for the duration on the night.

Happy 40th!
Jeff turned 40 yesterday! We had a great day-Savannah made a card for him and gave it to him first thing yesterday morning, then Jeff's friends at work organized a surprise brunch, and he had no idea. I went over for that and it was good to see him at a loss for words! Savannah and Vince gave him a camp chair for him to take to Savannah's ball games and I gave him a new Daniel Moore print that is being released this summer. Savannah picked out an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen and that was a big hit last night after dinner.

G-Mama's Visit!
G-Mama has a very busy schedule over the next few months and was able to slip out of Charlotte for a short weekend visit to Macon. She arrived just before 3pm on Friday and we picked up Savannah and Luke (our neighbor who we carpool with) and headed to Elliott Farms for opening day of strawberry picking. Between the 3 adults and 2 children picking, we racked up a $50 strawberry bill! Vincey enjoyed eating some strawberries in the field but he didn't like the homemade ice cream (perhaps there was a mixup at the hospital?). We have made two strawberry trifles, daquiries, and will probably make some jam too.

Saturday morning we worked out in the yard and planted a little garden spot with green beans, zuchinni, and cucumbers. Savannah is really excited to see the crop take off, just as her tomatoes did last spring. Saturday afternoon we went to Savannah's ball game then had Ingleside Village Pizza for dinner while the kids went to Martha Bowman for their childcare that evening. I think everyone was worn out after the weekend's festivities since we all took at least 2 hour naps!

Easter Fun
Jeff returned home safely from the Final Four last Tuesday evening and we were all glad that he was home. The kids enjoyed the Easter Egg Hunt at church Saturday before Easter and looked adorable at church on Sunday. The Easter Bunny brought a little bit of candy, some DVDs for each of them, and a couple of potty training books for Vincey. Since he still isn't sure about the difference in "dirty" and "wet", it'll be a few months before we embark on that journey.
Jeff and I went to an auction in Mid-March for land in Monroe County, GA (just one county north of here) and got caught up in the bargains, so we purchased two building lots in Bolingbroke, GA. One of them is 1.4 acres and the other is right at 1 acre and they are next to each other. We are still debating on whether or not to build on one and sell the other or build right in the middle of them. Decisions Decisions!
I have just returned from a scrapbooking weekend and I am so close to having both of their scrapbooks up to date! Savannah loves to look at the books and my progress when I get home which makes me feel awesome and that my time spent is appreciated by the family.
While I was on my trip, Jeff sent me a text and told me that Savannah got her first hit in her softball game! I was excited for her-he said that it was coach pitch (they throw five pitches and if the batter misses, then the tee is set up for them) and she hit a grounder down the 3rd base line and ran hard for a single. She eventually scored a run and was pretty pumped about the game. Her coaches have been great and teach a lot about fundamentals of the game. We have been very fortunate to be on this team. I hope to post more pictures of her progress over the course of the season.

How We've Spent Our Spring Break

Jeff and I signed up to participate in the Cooper River Bridge Run (1oK) in Charleston, SC and it was this past weekend. Our goal was to complete the 6.1 mile course in under 100 minutes...and we finished in 96! We did a little bit of jogging, but mostly it was weaving in and out of folks along the route.
Savannah didn't have much going on at school on Friday, so we left Macon about 9pm on Thursday night. The kids fell asleep before we even got out of Macon, so it was a very peaceful 2.5 hr trip to Savannah, GA where we spent the night. Savannah fell right back to sleep once we got checked into the hotel, but Vincey was another story...it was as if he had gotten a 2 hr nap and was ready for the rest of the day, only it was 1am. We spent the morning in Savannah and the kids loved riding the water taxi and shopping on River Street. We drove on up to Charleston around lunch time and got checked into the hotel there and Jeff picked up our race packets, then we trekked up towards Litchfield Beach where we met G-Mama for the kid drop-off.
The kids loved being at the beach and playing in the indoor pool! Savannah met new friends and was dog-tired every night. She said she didn't want to take any naps because she was afraid she would miss something fun! One morning we went to the state park and we saw this alligator.
Jeff and some friends left out this morning for Indianapolis for the Final Four weekend and he was excited to hang out with the guys. The kids and I went to a neighborhood park earlier today and they had a blast playing there. We have an Easter Egg Hunt at church tomorrow and we are looking forward to the Easter Service on Sunday. Happy Easter to everyone!

Mr. Manners
Vince surprised me last week when he responded "yes ma'am!" I was finally able to catch him on video saying it, so I included it on the blog. We are very fortunate that Savannah continues to use her manners and all of that has rubbed off on little Vincey. He is speaking so much better now and is able to communicate what he wants. Oftentimes he will grab our shirt or arm and say "walk, walk, walk" or "let's go" and takes us to show what he wants. It may be the pantry, it may be the refrigerator, or it may be to the TV so that we will put on a Dora or Diego episode.
Savannah continues to be very patient with him and she and her friends love to be around him. Speaking of Savannah, she started her girls t-ball league last month. She is getting better and now that the weather is turning nicer, Jeff and I hope to work with her on her skills more during the week.

A Date with Daddy

The sun has finally come out! The weather here this weekend has been wonderful, so we spent some time hanging out in the backyard and on the trampoline at the McCart's house yesterday too. Jeff took Savannah out to the A-Sun basketball championship game at Mercer University on Saturday night; Mercer was playing in the game, so there were lots of people there that they knew. While they were waiting for the doors to open, Savannah had her face tattooed and a Macon Telegraph photographer snapped her photo. It just might be in the newspaper today!

Sweet Savannah Turns Six Years Old!
Savannah with Alex and Evan Jordan
The whole birthday party, minus a couple who are camera-shy
Savannah's Backyardigans birthday cakeLast Friday we celebrated Savannah's birthday at home and I took cupcakes to her class at school. On Saturday, we had her official birthday party at Michael's Craft Store and the kids painted door hangers for their bedrooms. Everyone seemed to have a great time, and I was very glad that the moms stayed around to help and to take pictures. A HUGE shout-out to my friend Ani who took lots of wonderful pictures at the party! Thank you again :-)
Savannah enjoyed opening her gifts up with her friends and she received lots of art projects that she has been diligently working on for the past few days. Vince likes to try to help and we will oftentimes look in the dining room to see him perched in the center of the table using her Color Wonder markers.
The school called me this morning to tell me that Savannah wasn't feeling well, so I picked her up early and we went to visit Dr. Bush to get her checked out. She woke me up last night saying that her ear was bothering her really bad, so I gave her Tylenol for that. Lucky for us, the diagnosis was a head cold, so he told me what kind of medicine to get and that she could go back to school tomorrow if she felt ok. After her 4 hour nap this afternoon, she woke up feeling much more refreshed and is ready for school in the morning.

SNOW DAY!
Olivia, Luke, Jackson, and Savannah built a snowman in the backyard
The makeshift "LUGE"We already had a long weekend with Friday and Monday off, and we were so happy to get snow! Vince had a wonderful 2nd birthday and some neighbors and friends came over to celebrate with us. It was too snowy and icy to get on the tractor, but we did makeshift "luge" in the backyard and the kids loved it. Here are a few pictures. Vince didn't like the snow all that much, but he and CJ played inside with the new train table.
