The Last Week of School

I can't believe that summer is almost here! I mean, it already feels like summer here in Florida, but gosh, it seems like the kids have just gotten settled into their classes! Savannah has done very well at Allen Park and will be in the Full Time Gifted program next year. Vince will be in kindergarten there, so it will be nice to have both of them at the same school.
Savannah got her cast off last week and the first thing she did when she got home was to jump in the pool...fully clothed. It has killed her to not be able to swim or go to the beach, especially since it's been in the mid 80s. We were in Orlando for the past two weekends for a family trip to the parks and then Mother's Day weekend, we were there for a graduation party for my cousins. We also managed to hit Disney World on Friday night and Sunday before heading back to Fort Myers.
Savannah had her end of the year performance at school and the kids did a wonderful job. She was dramatic, of course, and was excited that Jeff, Vince, and I were all able to attend. Vince's end of the year program is on Wednesday. There is no telling how that will go! Five year olds on risers...
Have a good week, we hope to update some after Memorial Day festivities!

Pretty Busy Without Doing Much!

I can't believe how slack I have gotten with updating the blog. Evidently there have been some changes made to the "dashboard" and updating has gotten to be a real issue for me because of the way the pictures get added. For some reason not all of the pictures show up on my hard drive, then to add them to the blog has some sort of issue too. Anyway, I am changing over to Firefox today to see if that helps any!

Enough about that...Since Easter. I have been working several days per week at Bright Beginnings, Vince's preschool. I enjoy being in the classroom, but I think that my patience is better suited for the office. Savannah broke her wrist 10 days ago at the YMCA after school program. Evidently she was standing on a small block (which she wasn't supposed to be doing) and a friend pushed her off. She fell with her arm across her chest and she has a buckle fracture in her left wrist. We were very thankful that her standardized testing at school had ended earlier that day, so as far as timing goes, it was pretty good. She has been pretty patient about not going in the pool or to the beach. We are planning a few trips to Disney World this month, so I know it will be hot and sweaty. We hope to get a "fresh" cast on before our trip so that the characters can sign that. We think that Vince will be tall enough to ride Space Mountain and Expedition Everest.

Vince has started playing in the "big pool" now, a real step up from only playing in the hot tub. He likes to jump off the hot tub and into the shallow end and have me grade his jumps. He plays for about 45 minutes, then decides it's time to come inside. We hope by the end of the summer he will enjoy being in the deep part of the pool. We are looking into additional swim lessons for him now.

Jeff celebrated his 43rd birthday over the weekend. The kids and I made him a cake, just like last year. Except this year, the cake was much better! My friend Eliza kept the kids on Saturday night so that Jeff and I could go out on a date. It was really low-key, a minor league baseball game! He and I both enjoyed being able to spend the time together without worrying about the kids.

The kids finish school the week before Memorial Day! I can't believe that we have been in Southwest Florida for 9 months already. We have all adjusted well and have enjoyed being in a new place. Vince is doing well in his Pre-K class, and will test later this month at the elementary school for class placement. Savannah continues to earn all A's and we are very proud of her. She will be in full-time gifted classes next year and I think that will be a nice challenge for her.

Ok, enough with the updates, you probably just want to see pictures anyway! Have a great week, and I promise to do better with the updates.

I Have Dropped the Ball!

I used to be so good about updating the blog, but since Facebook has come around, I have mostly been updating folks through Facebook. So, I apologize for being completely slack over the past few months.

Since my last post Savannah has turned nine years old, I completed (not run) a half marathon at Disney World, we had a family date night to Disney on Ice, the kids and I went on a pirate cruise over spring break at Fort Myers Beach, we dyed Easter eggs, and lots more activities! I hope to do better!

Happy Birthday Vincey-V! You Are FIVE!

Well, we are in full swing of the Stewart Family birthday celebrations! My birthday was last Friday, and Vince's birthday was yesterday, the 12th. Our month is jam packed with going-ons over the weekends, so we decided to have their parties mid-week, rather than wait until March to celebrate them. Vince had his party at Pump It Up and it was a great setup. He wanted the "glow" party where they turn on the black lights and the carpet and walls glow in the dark. In addition, all of the kids wore white or yellow shirts so that they would glow even better. Just about everyone from his class joined us, as well as a couple of neighborhood kids. I think all of the kids had a great time!
