Softball Party

What a busy weekend! Savannah capped off a wonderful weekend with her Minnows softball picnic at Water Works Park this afternoon. We planned to all go, but Vincey wasn't feeling well and was about to take a nap, so he and Jeff stayed home. Savannah was so excited to receive another trophy to put on her dresser! She was pleased that this one was taller than her soccer trophy but wished that it showed the "girl" running really fast rather than batting. Her coach gave her the trophy and commented on how much she had improved over the course of the season and gave her a big high five. We are hoping she can play softball this fall and work on her skills so she can play pitcher or first base next spring!

Fun at Stone Mountain

Savannah and Christian on the zip line

Who would've thought that Stone Mountain was the number one tourist attraction in the state of Georgia? I certainly didn't, but we had a great time there yesterday. Jeff has a huge project that he is completing at work, so the kids and I, along with Melissa and Christian Goodman, went to Stone Mountain Friday after school and came back Saturday evening. Friday we spent some time at the hotel pools, did a little shopping, and ate pizza from a nearby pizza place. The kids were tired and went to bed around 9pm...but were wide awake and ready to go at 7am! Savannah getting ready to scale the rock wall

Christian on the Ride the Ducks

The kids all enjoyed the Ride the Ducks tour at Stone Mountain the most. I think it was because they all got to drive the "boat/duck" when we were on the lake. The zip line was pretty fun, and we were all glad that Vincey didn't throw up at the top of Stone Mountain like he did on our visit back in November. Vince fell asleep on the train, Savannah and Christian were both terrified in the 4D theatre, but all in all, everyone had a great time! We look forward to another trip to the High Country with the Goodmans next month.

Last Day of School!

Savannah finished up her Kindergarten year on Friday. They only had a half day of school on Thursday and Friday, which ended up being nice so that we could leave town right after school on Friday to head out of town. We also received in the mail a letter from Bibb County Schools telling us that Savannah passed the tests to qualify for the REACH/Gifted program next year. We are very proud of her for doing that and she is looking forward to being in the program as well.

End of the Season

Savannah's last softball game was earlier this evening. She progressed well this season and we are hoping that she will play again this Fall. In the 6 and under softball league, the girls are thrown 5 pitches from their coach, and if they don't get a hit, they bring out the tee. The first half of the season Savannah always hit off the tee. The past few games she has gotten one coach hit each game and we have been so excited for her! Tonight, she got 3 coach hits! She also got knocked over and tagged out at third base, but she was hustling much better than in previous games. If we continue to work with her, she will get lots better. Way to go Minnows!
