A Visit with Great Grandaddy and Thomas

On the way back to Macon yesterday we stopped off in Newton, NC to visit with Great Grandaddy and Thomas. They had just returned earlier in the week from their winter in Florida. Vincey eventually warmed up to everyone (including the bird, Herbert) and had a nice time. Their favorite activity while there was seeing Great Grandaddy's piano play all by itself!

Sir Topham Hat

The real reason for us going to Boone was to ride Thomas the Tank Engine on Friday morning. Vince really likes trains, but he hates to have his picture made. So, we don't have all that many of him smiling or looking at the camera; but, he did enjoy being there. His favorite ride was the Mouse Train and the chairs to get to the top of the mountain to ride the Mouse Train.

Tweetsie!

We spent the past week at the cabin and went to Tweetsie every single day. We stopped in on Monday afternoon (Memorial Day) to have our pictures made for our season passes and figured we would just ride a few things. Two hours later, we made our way up the mountain to the cabin. Each day we spent some time at Tweetsie and mixed in a few other attractions like Grandfather Mountain, shopping in downtown Boone, and a few trips to the Mast Store.
Melissa and Christian Goodman joined us mid-week and that's when we went to Grandfather Mountain. They both seemed to like it, but Melissa and Savannah went the furthest out on the mountain!
Savannah volunteered to help with the magic show and loved being an assistant!

Happy Birthday Wilson!

While we were in Charlotte over Memorial Day weekend, we were able to celebrate with Gary, Lin, and Wilson for his first birthday. Gary grilled out at his house and fun was had by all as Wilson opened his gifts (with help from Savannah and Vince).
